The NDA exam is conducted by The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and the exam is conducted in two parts named as NDA-1 or NDA-2.  The first paper NDA-1 which is conducted in April and NDA-2 is organized in September. The National Defense Academy (NDA) examination is for the recruitment in the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force and for Indian naval academy Course.

NDA Exam Pattern:

  • Exam mode: The NDA exam will be conducted through offline mode.
  • Exam duration: The duration of the exam in both papers is 2 hours 30 minutes
  • Answer mode: It is mandatory for the candidates to use the black ballpoint pen to mark their answers
  • Types of question: All the questions in the examination are of objective type. The first exam contains 120 questions and 2nd exam contain 150 questions.
  • Examinations: As it consists of two paper that is NDA-1 includes mathematics and NDA-2  includes General Ability
  • Language: The Question paper of mathematics and general ability are available in two languages that is English and Hindi.
  • Total Marks: The mathematics paper is of 300 marks and General ability is for 600 so the whole written examination is of 900 marks
  • Negative Marking: For every incorrect answer, 33% score will be deducted as negative marking in the examination
  • SSB interview: The candidates who have qualified the NDA test then they have to go through SSB interview which is of 900 marks
  • Marking scheme: In  paper-1  each question carry 3 marks and in Paper-2 each question carry 4 marks

Eligibility criteria of NDA:-

  • All the students have passed their 12th standard from a recognized board with Mathematics and Physics for navy and Airforce recruitment
  • For army students, they have passed 12th with any stream
  • Girls are not eligible
  • Only unmarried male candidate can apply
  • There is an age limit as the candidates should born between July 1998 to 1st July 2001 for the first exam and for 2nd exam the student must born in between 2nd January 1999 to 1st July 2002
